Donald E. Leisey, EdD, Executive Director of the International Academy for Educational Entrepreneurship (IAEE) is dedicated to the encouragement and support of educators who invest time, energy, and capital to create, develop and market programs, products, services, and/or technologies designed to enhance and improve education. As Executive Director of IAEE he lectures, writes about educational entrepreneurship and serves as a mentor to individuals interested in starting their own educational businesses.
Leisey has been an educational entrepreneur for thirty-six years. He organized and established eight companies including a chain of 22 private for profit schools, a chain of 5 educational retail stores, catalogue and Internet sales, and commercial real estate partnerships.
He is an investor, served on boards of directors of for-profit and non-profit corporations including the Board of Councilors at the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education, and the Foundation Board at West Chester University of Pennsylvania where he also serves on the Advisory Council to the Dean of the College of Education. He is a prior member of the Family Services Agency of Marin County, CA and the California Child Care and Adult Education Commissions.
Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Leisey served for twenty years as an educator in various positions with government schools in Pennsylvania, Japan, and California as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, business manager and university instructor at Dominican University of California and California State University of the East Bay. From 1973 to 1979, he was superintendent of schools for the San Rafael City Schools in Marin County, California.
